Port 1352 stops working

We have, for some time now, had problems with servers where port 1352 stops working.

The only common thing between these servers (that we gave figured out that is) are:

  1. the are backed up by a Legato backup client

  2. they are connected to an external (Netscape) ldap via directory assistance

  3. they run under windows (but we have windows machines THAT work coorectly)

I’ve seens in this forum that others also have had problems. The question here is can anyone se a pattern here? Are you that also have problem running Legato backup or DA?

I here list servers that have and have not problem in our little domain:

Any thoughts on the subject are welcome.

Not a problem I’m familiar with, but if you think that the backup jobs are a potential point of conflict, have you considered installing an additional NIC in the problem servers and having your backup jobs run across only that interface?

Not yet. But it will certainly be worth trying to have a dedicated backup NIC. Thanks for the tip.
