I have POP3 email accounts with many servers, and run replication every 10 minutes. Often (especially first thing in the morning), rep will run through many cycles without picking up any mail, then if I send an email out, the next cycle picks up heaps of incomings that have been waiting there all along.
Why would replication fail to detect waiting mail, and why does outgoing mail kickstart the process?
