Phantom dead messages in mail.boxes

Hi Guys,

Has anyone come across statistics misreporting the number of dead messages (MAIL.Dead) in the mail.boxes? At the moment “sh mail.dead” report 253 such messages, but I’ll be darn if I can see them in the mail.boxes (we have two mail1.box and mail2.box).

Before anyone points me to existing forum threads, I’ve seen this one already and our -default access- ACE is depositor.

And none of the hidden views in the mail.boxes appear contain any hidden messages.

Hi Mark - it didn’t work, I even ran a tell router compact.

I’ve had the same problem for two weeks. The only thing I could do is manually stop and restart the mail router to clear out messages showing as dead in the administrator client. A call to lotus support yielded some info that required follow up with Trend Scanmail. A check of the notes.ini showed an incorrect setting in the scanmail settings - a known cause of the behavior I was seeing. If you use Trend Micro ScanMail, you may wish to check with them.
