Personal Address Book Sync Problem

Upgraded our Blackberry Server to BES 5. RIM says to synchronize contacts you have to create a replica of the names.nsf and they state to create a copy of the users names.nsf on the BES server. Ok - great - created a BES user group with rights to create replicas on the BES. Users are able to create replicas without a problem.

Same users have Synchronize contacts enabled in their address book and enabled on the replicator page.

A new entry is not created on the replicator for the names.nsf as it is already enabled through the synchronize contacts option.

Names does not replicate automatically with the BES server though it will replicate manually.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Subject: BES 5 contacts sync

RIM gave you the B answer. The A answer is, if the user is already synching their contacts, then their contacts are already inside their mail db, so just tell BES to look there. In the BAS (BB Admin Service) find a user, under Messaging Config go into Default Config, go to the Organizer data synch tab, then in the Address Book section fill in the “Location - server” and “Location - relative path” fields.

IMPORTANT: the server name only works for me if I put the full canonical name as in CN=MyServer/OU=Servers/O=Acme

As long as you tell BAS where the contacts are he will synch the handheld from there, so copying all those local names.nsf up is just extra overhead.
