I’ve recently installed a new server with Domino 9.0.1, and configured everything as I always do.
Everything was working fine until today, when with just a single domain we’re receiving this error
Error transferring to THATDOMAIN.COM; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 550 without authentication
I tried to google it, search on forums but I couldn’t find anything that matches my problem.
Two days ago we have configured a Reverse DNS since we had problems with that too, but now it’s working fine. Other domains are routing fine.
Any idea?
Thank you
Subject: Re: Permanent Error 550 without authentication
Hello Andres!
The most probably is related to a misconfiguration on destination domain.
It is not a Domino issue.
The Exchange / AD Distribution List (group) has been set to only allow certain people (or not anonymous) to send mail to that group. If this is on purpose, then nothing needs to be done except tell someone not to give out that e-mail address because it’s restricted. In Exchange, the Distribution List restriction is set in the DL Properties > Mail Flow Settings > Message Delivery Restrictions > Properties > Require that all senders are authenticated.
Best Regards!
Subject: Solved
The problem was at the other side.
The recipient added us on a White List and now they are able to receive our mails.
Subject: I get it
Ok, thank you for your response, Rodrigo.
So, the recipient server is not accepting unauthenticated senders, so if I enable SMTP authentication it should work fine.
I’ll check on that
Thank you
