On my Domino 6.5.2/Windows 2003 server (with 2gb RAM) , I’ve had periodic slowdowns and have suffered from slow memory release.
My question is:
On SPR# RCE5X7QY5, it indicates that in order to resolve this issue I must implement the notes.ini parameter Debug_Skip_UnmapViewOfFile=1. Does anyone know if this is strictly a 6.5.4 parameter or can I use it in 6.5.2? The IBM documentation is very confusing.

It sounds like the fix requires the INI setting to be enabled, and according to the documentation it’s only implemented in 6.5.2FP1, 6.5.3FP1 and 6.0.5.
So you’ll need to upgrade off 6.5.2 (at least to 6.5.2FP1) and add the INI switch to get the benefit.

The ini parameter only applies to the domino server experiencing slow / no response when a server task, such as compact, updall, etc., shuts down. It does not fix the issue with slow memory release on shutdown.

Another option is to upgrade Windows 2003 to SP1. The issue is fixed in SP1.
No need for the notes.ini variable after the OS upgrade.
