Hi there,I think I’ve got a little problem here: I wrote an agent which runs every hour and checks, whether a flag in a profile-document is set or not. If it is set, the agent does a lot of stuff…
My problem is that I think that the agent is launched for every doc in the database, which are roundabout 20K!
What’s the trick in this case?
Of course I could trigger the agent manually, but for the agent takes about 1 hour to finish when triggered from the client, I’d prefer a server-based execution…(takes about 10 min).
TIA,
Buzzy

If it is scheduled and written in LotusScript, it doesn’t matter what the setting is.

Buzzy,
What are the settings for the agent? Usually I’ll set this kind of agent up so that it operates against NONE.
And why do you think it’s launched for every doc? Does it print out to the log info for every doc? Does it update the profile 20k times?

Rafael, not sure if it’s changed in ND7 but in R6.5 there is no choice for “None” for scheduled agents, only for manual agents.
Buzzy, one option would be to place the profile doc in a hidden folder then in the agent you can add a Document Selection to run on documents in that folder only. The Document Selection area is the first Object in the agent properties on the left.

Thanks Paul, but my problem isn’t a problem, for the agent does not run on all documents. This was just a side-effect of the (annoying) feature that a scheduled agent runs as soon as it gets saved.
And for this agent runs abount 10-15 minutes, I sometimes changed something is this time & saved the agent - so it ran again as soon as the previous run was completed
Thanks again,
Buzzy

Good question - I just noticed that the agent really runs once (like Doug said) - seems that some other “event” launched the agent a second time…my fault
Thanks,
