Performance

We have just upgraded to 8.5, specifically:Release 8.5

Revision 20081211.1925 (Release 8.5)

Standard Configuration

Client on Windows XP SP2

We are noticing that performance is somewhat sluggish. It seemed like it might be worst when we came back to the Notes application after a period of unuse. Found an older KB article talking about the Notes.ini parameter:

DISABLE_TRIMWS=1

When I set this and then restarted notes, the performance seemed to be better (trying to work with others to determine if others also see an improvement with that parameter). From looking at documentation, it seems that I shouldn’t have to use that parameter, but I was wondering 1)if somehow that parameter was not the default (even thought it was supposed to be) in 8.5, 2)if others had tried the parameter change to determine if it helps their performance and 3)other than using more memory, is there any reason why we wouldn’t want to use that setting if it seems to help performance?

Thanks for any information you can provide.
