Performance issue and solution

Hi all,

we were experiencing about bad performance of Notes 8.0.2 full client (german version).

And we identified a real performance brake (without understanding what happens).

In the desktop policy - preferences-regional settings “Unicode standard sorting” = enabled

(results in a notes.ini setting called “CollationType=@UCA”)

is a performance break.

With this setting opening databases, dokuments, forwarding e-mails etc. are slower for about 100% to 200 %.

Putting this setting to disabled or eleminating the ini setting the client works much better.

An other way to reset (if no policy is enabled):

Menu-preferences-international settings → restore to defaults and restart notes

Perhaps other can benefit from this…

Subject: Unbelievable !!!

We rolled out Notes 8.5 the last two week and received dramatic responce to the performance. I search one and a half day and found exactly the same solution: delete the CollationType=@UCA setting from the ini and the client rocks again. We had a difference of about 400% and more for opening a complex form!

Subject: Possible fix…

This may be a match to SPR ZBZO7K2HAP. The fix for this issue is currently slated to be in 8.03 and 8.51. It can be built into a hotfix if you open a PMR with Support and request it.
