I can copy a BMP image to the clipboard and paste it into the body of my Lotus email. The other 45 people in our company cannot. They get an error that says “only text can be pasted into this type of field.” All of our clients were installed at the same time and (I thought) configured identically. User preferences/configurations seem to be the same. Where is the “setting” that will allow all users to paste BMP images form the clipboard?

The others are right about the cursor being in the wrong spot - put it in the body.
ALSO… this sounds like a “beginner” question, so one piece of advice about pasting files.
If you paste a picture, regardless of it’s original format, it will come across as a BMP. If you want to save space, or want smaller emails, try saving it as a JPG file and then using the File, Import menu option.
I use this option so much that I set up a smarticon for it.

The only time that I have seen this the users were not moving the cursor to the body field of the message.

I agree ! the body of the mails is a richtext field unless you explicitly changed it in the memo form. Thus it accepts BMP.
Check that they put the cursor out of the address and subjects fields …
