Lotus notes(6.5) user password is not working in his client PC. We gave him a copy of the original ID file(created during user creation) from the Domino server. This original ID file should accept the original default password given to all users. Still the password is not working. Pls advice.
Subject: Password not working
Is it telling you the password is invalid, or that there is a newer copy of the ID with a different password?
Are you sure you are typing the password correctly? What happens if YOU switch to that backup ID (on your computer) - does the password work for you, but not the user? Then either a typo, or something wrong with keyboard.
If it’s telling you the password is invalid, and this also on the backup, and you don’t have password recovery set up, and there are no other backup copies of the ID, then you have to recreate it, and give the new ID same rights as old one. Only gotcha there is if the user sent or received encrypted mail, and you can programmatically set the encrypted field on the documents to ‘0’.
If you have password checking turned on, you just edit the person doc, clear the field, then have user authenticate with ID file currently used.

None of the ID file is accepting the password. We finally recreated the user’s ID file with new nsf file. After user creation we modified the user’s nsf file and assigned the old nsf file. Is this a correct method?
