We use “Log into Notes using your Operating Password” and it has worked well.
UNTIL RECENTLY…
I have users where their password has expired in Active Directory so they change it (has to be 8 characters / One Upper case and one Number in it). Then when they get into Notes it does not auto change it…I believe due to complexity issue.
If they go into security and try to manually change it - they get Password is not Complex enough issue…but it is…and Security is 64bit.
The complexity can be changed when a new id file is created, and I think (but am not sure) it’s actually saved in the id file so that you can’t change the minimum complexity for an existing id.
I also think (but am not sure) this setting remains separate from Active Directory password rules, so Active Directory may insist that network passwords has to be at least 8 characters with one upper case and one number, but Notes ignores that and uses its own rules instead.
I have had this happen to a user exactly the same symptoms and the notes security has not changed.I found that the error message was actually misleading what it meant was that the password had been used before.
i.e The password they tried to change to was P7ssword - they had used this before.
I was able to change their password fine to P4ulgarb proving it is nothing to do with the complexity of the password. I will log this with IBM as a potential bug.
