Hello,When the Notes client on the internet is used with passthru access to an internal networked Notes Server is the traffic/packets sent and received encrypted from that client?
Is there a way of encrypting such traffic as theoratically someone could use a packet sniffer to intercept and access data.
Would iNotes with SSL be a safer option to use than using the Notes client?
Subject: Passthru Server Security Question
Domino has a built in function to encrypt network traffic.
You should set the TCP/IP port to encrypt traffic on the passthrough server.
This will automatically encrypt the traffic on both ends, no matter whether a client or another server is connecting to the machine. The remote server or clients do not have to be configured to encrypt traffic.
When you configure ports, the TCP/IP port will have a checkbox for encrypting the port.
Note: This is different than network compression in the fact that network compression must be configured on both ends (the server and the client or other server).
Encrypting the traffic does slow things down a bit, but piece of mind may be greater than the delay.
