Hi
I have to replace my current domain (oldDomain) with a new one (newDomain). I have setup the new server (newServer) and am now moving the users to this machine one at a time. Everything is working perfectly except that I currently only have one IP (I currenty cannot get a second one) and that points to server.acme.com which is the oldServer. I though that I could access the new machine (newServer) by placing it in the passthough field (incl. connection document) in the old machine - unfortunately this is not working.
This is the setup I have:
oldServer → 192.168.0.200
newServer → 192.168.0.206
The external DNS has the following:
server.acme.com → 94.12.12.12
I setup the passthough on the server document on oldServer to point to newServer. I created a Passthough connection document on oldServer to point to newServer. I have placed the name of the user (New User/newDomain@newDomain) in the needed field in the oldServer server document in the passthough section.
When I try and connect to oldServer using the dns server.acme.com I see the files on the old server (I cross certified the domains). When I try and access newServer using the dns server.acme.com (same dns - was hoping that the oldServer when seeing that the user whats to get to newServer would pass the connection on) I get “The server is not responding”.
Have I totally misunderstood what the passthough setting is for or have I just made a mistake that I cannot see?
Thanking you for any help given
