Pantom emails

I read the question about Phantom emails and the response given by s alex on 20.Feb.03. Does any one have the solution to this problem. I have many users with this same problem, getting a notification of new mail, checking the inbox and nothing being there. If someone has a solution to this problem I would love to here it. I have been trying to find a solution but haven’t to this point.

Check the NOTES.INI file and delete the line starting with:

NewMailSeqNum=xxxxx

where xxxxx is any number. Then restart the client.

This number increments with every new message delivered, but if the server for some reason gets ahead, the client will signal new mail until it increments to the same number as the server.

It typically happens on shared Notes installs or where the user roams between workstations.

Are your users sharing workstations (and therefore most likely) notes.ini files?
