Outside mail addressed to Short Name/UserID from Internet not routing after R6 upgrade?

Hello all,

We have narrowed our mail routing problem after yesterday’s mail servers upgrades to R6. At first, it seemed that very little mail was getting through, but now it appears that anything addressed to the ‘USER ID@domainname.com’ will NOT route into our users, but if the mail is addressed as: ‘Internet_Address@domainname.com’, it gets through without a hitch.

Also, if an internal user sends mail to another user using ‘USER ID@domainname.com’ (instead of just picking them from the Domino Directory), that mail will NOT route either. If a user is just picked from the Domino Directory, mail routes fine.

Is this a bug, or is there an upgrade task I forgot? The ODS of our Domino Directory has been converted to 43, but we have not switched to the R6 design of the DOmino Directory, so I don’t know if this problem goes away once that is done. Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Patrick

Subject: Outside mail addressed to Short Name/UserID from Internet not routing after R6 upgrade?

Hello all,

For those struggling w/ their R5-R6 conversion…

There must have been some corruption in the Directory Assistance db on our Internet SMTP Domino Server. Once I deleted that database, and re-created it from the template and put our internal Address Book as the primary entry to look up to for name resolution, all mail routed properly. A VERY stressful couple of days, though!
