Outlook mail copied rather than moved

When I file a piece of mail in Outlook by moving to a folder, thereby clearing it out of the Outlook Inbox, in the Domino Mail file, the mail is COPIED to that folder but remains in the Domino Inbox. Because of that, users remotely connecting (or using Notes client alternatively) must wade through old filed mail. Is there a way to change this behavior? I have the the DAMO 6.5.5 Gold release installed.

What are the steps users are using to do this? Dragging and dropping is the most convenient method to move mail to another folder.
