Out Of Office

Hello,

I would like to be able to enable out of office and change the date/message for some users when they forgot to do it after they leave.

Someone know how to do that ?

Thanks in advance

There are 2 schools of thought…

1: compromise the users ID by logging in as them and setting up Out of Office for them. (This is a good option for its simplicity.

2: Allow yourself access to the DB. Change yourself to be the mail file owner (you will not view the OUT of OFFICE part of tools preferences unless you are the owner). Setup OUT of OFFICE. Then once all this is done go to the OUT of OFFICE agent and run the agent on behalf of the user. Then put the user back as the owner of the DB.

I will say that the first option is easier.

Nathan, I think that there is one more option, similar to your first option:

Access the mail file, through a browser, using the users’ Lotus Notes Internet password and user name.

If you need to change the password, you can notify the user when he/she returns.

The caveat to this one is that if you need to change the password, you have to have administrative rights to the field in Domino Directory.

Thanks.

When i put back the user as the db owner, the agent will still run on behalf his name or it will run as it has been enable by the user itself ? (i’m not sure to be clear)

The agent will stay signed by you but will on their behalf…

And forgot about WEBMAIL very good point.

Romain: Logging in through a browser will resolve your concerns. As far as Domino is concerned, the USER logged in and changed the OOO agent. You won’t have to worry about “sent on behalf” or changing the Owner field.

You just have to remember to tell the user to change their Lotus Notes Internet Password when they return.

HTH.
