Out of Office service (OOS) still active for deleted persons

We have a strange fenomenon. Some deleted users still have their databases listed when I do a “tell router outofoffice”. How do I disable that and remoce them from the Out Of Office Service?

We have an application that performs deletion when a person should be unactivated (this is done so that it should be easy to reactivate users). The person document is removed from names and put in an “backup” database. A new copy is made of the maildatabase to another place on the server (deactivatedmail\xxx.nsf) and the original mail database is deleted.

I suspect that the issue is created when a user has the OOO active when we do this. But what can we do to resolve the problem?

Subject: OOS

Hello,When you move this mail database, are you moving it outside of Domino? If not then it will still execute any agents that are enabled. You could move these databases outside of Domino or you could disable the agents in these databases. OOS is nothing more than an agent so disabling the agents would keep it from running. I hope this helps.

Subject: The Out of Office Service (OOS) is router based, not Agent based

To clarify, in R8 we shipped Notes with both options, being the OOA - Our of Office Agent - the default. It’s up to the user to make the change from Agent to Service, in the Public Address Book.

Apparently in your case, the user(s) had their OOA enabled before/during the copy of their mail file. A simple approach to fix the problem will be to verify if the OutOfOffice Agent is enable BEFORE the copy is made,

Also, if you have a spare Domino Server, you may want to copy the mail files to that server and prevent any application (mail file) to run any agent. ex. remove AMGR from ServerTasks, in your server’s INI.
