Out of office as router task

Currently our set up only responds to out of office requests once every 6 hours. I have since been told that after upgrading to 8.5.1 I should be able to enable out of office as a router task so that the auto responded mail gets sent instantly.

would anyone know where I can get some information about how to do this?

Once your mailfiles are on 8.5.x you can enable OOO as a service - this is from Notes admin help.

warning - If any users have their OOO running as an agent when you set this you will need to disable the agemnt for them manually on their return as they cannot see it. use command below to check

Use the server command Tell router O to display a list of all databases that have an active out of office service.

  1. From the Domino Administrator, click the Configuration tab.

  2. Click Server - Configurations.

  3. Select the Server Configuration document you want to modify, and then click Edit Document.

  4. Click Router/SMTP - Advanced - Control.

  5. In the Miscellaneous section, locate the field, Out of Office service type.

  6. Choose one of these:

Service – Choose the Out of Office service for users whose mail files reside in an all-Domino 8 mail cluster supporting the IBM® Lotus® Notes® 8 mail template (MAIL8.NTF). The Out of Office service supports Out of Office time periods of less than one day, but greater than one hour. The Out of Office service is automatically disabled when the Out of Office time period expires.

Agent – Choose the Out of Office agent for users whose mail files reside on a cluster that has at least one pre-Domino 8 server. The minimum setting for Out of office agent is one day. The agent must be manually disabled when the Out of Office time period expires.

  1. Click Save and Close.

Subject: Set option, but still not running as service

Thanks I have made that change on our main mail server however I am still not seeing the option for less then one day in OoO.

Do I need to do something to the mail files to switch them from agent to service?

Are your users on the 85 mail template?

Subject: Change takes affect after after restart.

I have had a bit of success over the weekend. I restarted the server and now I can get it to work.

The problem that I have now is that I need to enable then disable it in each mail file before it swaps over.

Would there be a quicker way of doing this?
