Other Contacts

We have upgraded to 8.0.2 and I am testing the functionality for “Open Other Contacts” for someone that has given me rights to manage their Contacts. I am using the Stadard Client and it works well until I try to send an e-mail with the address. If I have rights to thier mail, it say the e-mail is sent from the user who owns the Contacts and also sent by me.If I don’t have access to the mail it has no funcionality.

Is there a way to use the person’s Contacts for sending your own e-mail.

The question is from two administrative assistants and they do not have rights to each other’s mail but would like to share their Contacts.

In 7 I would replicate the names.nsf to the server and then to the other person’s workspace so they could share the names.

Thanks for your time.

Subject: Open Other’s Contacts

Hi.If you use ‘Open Others Contacts’ you are working in the other’s mail box. If you are permitted to send emails, the emails will be sent right out of the other’s mail box, but with the additional information (Sent by you).

If you also want to use (parts of) the contacts, just copy them to your own contacts. In case you share contacts in genreal you should use a central Contacts.nsf on the server (having corresponding access rights).

Thanks for the response. In 6 and 7 we used common address books and also replication of address books to the server. I was hoping with this easy access to the Contacts that I could eliminate a step. Thanks again.
