Way back in the Mac-only Beta, I and several other users complained that the Sametime icon is sat on our menu bar when we did not even have Sametime configured, as our installations don’t use it. New beta version, same problem. I don’t want the Sametime icon up there as we don’t use it.

A known issue that still hasn’t been fixed two years later? I’m up to 8.5.1FP1.
Subject: A way to remove Sametime icon
Please try to remove in current Sametime server in location document.Open Contacts, choose Advanced->Locations, double click the location currently used, click Edit button, switch to Servers tab, find “IBM Lotus Sametime server” and remove the content, click Save and Close button.
