Type some text (ref. the text below Helv. 9 in Notes/Helv. 11 in TextEdit)
Text should look the same/similar. Comparing TextEdit Rendering - taken as the Apple reference - with Notes shows differences in character rendering, line spacing etc.
Subject: Could you provide us more details on the differences of “character rendering”?
We know the line space issue, and we can improve it in the future release. For the “character rendering” issue, could you provide us some more details?
The paste above showes a clear character run difference at the "This filed is… line in the first paragraph. The 2nd paragraph shows a much subtler difference at the line end. There’s a bigger diff at certain characters, probably?
Subject: Notes design different with other application
Michael,
Thanks for your feedback!
On Mac Notes, same font size is bigger than other application as design. For example, the default font size is 9 pt. on other application, while on Notes it also 9 pt. by default in logic, but actually 11 pt. is used for drawing text.
Besides the font size different, Notes uses its own engine to layout and render text, so there might be some minor differences in space and line-break.
Otherwise, whether these have serious influence to you?
I’m writing often times in Notes to explore my thoughts. Later on they may live in another tool (Keynote, Word…). The current result of such a copy/paste action results in
Text in Notes highlighted and copied
Text in TextEdit (pasted)
this is bad.
If Notes decides to “oversize” fonts, due to platform? reasons, that’s one thing; I believe, that the interfacing with other apps should revert this than. This means that exporting, copy/paste, mail send etc. has to revert this font size change back to the expected point size.
