I cannot get notes 8.5 Public Beta 1 working correctly on Mac OS X 10.5.4. Everything I do produced a NSD.
This is a clean install of 10.5.4 with all the security patches and updates installed via Software Update. Also installed in iLife 08, iWork 08 and VMWare Fusion.
After installing 8.5 PB1 and going through the initial setup process I can’t do many things without generating a NSD.
Rightclicking anywhere causes an NSD.
Opening the sidebar and clicking the ‘Offline’ dropdown menu in the Sametime panel causes an NSD.
In my mailfile clicking the ‘Show’ action menu to try hide the preview pane causes an NSD.
The weird thing is I have the same setup on my iMac at home and it’s working perfectly. It’s driving me crazy.

Attached .crash file.
Subject: NSD File
Here is an NSD file caused by right clicking anywhere.
Subject: Found the culprit
Investigating further is seems that the root cause of the issue is an unrelated application that installed a Context Menu Item in the OS.
VMWare Fusion 2 Beta 2 has installed a file called ‘FusionVMDKPlugIn.plugin’ into the ‘/Library/Contenthandler Menu Items’ directory on the mac.
Files in this directory effect right clicking and this seems to carry through to the org.eclipse.swt.internal.carbon.OS.ContextualMenuSelect that the Notes 8.5 client is trying to invoke when you right click on something.
Uninstalling VMWare Fusion 2 Beta 2 or even just deleteing that file resolved the issue.
