Option to create private view is not available in Notes client despite permission

In Notes client Release 8.5.3 one particular user does not have the option ‘Create > View’ (i.e. a private view) in their Notes client, despite the group they belong to having the right to create private views in the relevant database’s ACL. This option is greyed-out in the Create menu. Other users with similar access do have this option available. The user’s access is granted entirely via group membership, not by their name, in the ACL. Is there some other setting I could check, besides the ACL?

Try enabling the option View – Advanced Menus from the actions in the Notes client. This should enable the ‘View’ option under the Create menu. This will have immediate affect.

The ACL will not restrict the ability for users to create views. If the option is disabled in the ACL, this only prevents the users view being saved in the database, in this case a private view will be stored in desktop.dsk or bookmarks.nsf file (depending on the users setup and if they are roaming users).

The ‘View - Advanced Menus’ option makes a lot of changes to the menu structure in Notes. For the ‘old school’ Notes fans, the Advanced Menus option contains the options you know, otherwise the menu structure is greatly simplified (Look at the Application and Replication sub-menus when enabling/disabling this feature to see some key differences).

Thank you so much, David. I suspected this option must be a client setting, but couldn’t recall what it might be.
