Hi!There is an Batch file called “KILLNOTES.EXE”.You can download it from google site and use it.Whenever there is problem in opening Notes client u can simplu click it.It will close all DLL and EXE files of notes.
Be aware that dont use that exe in server machine it may stop the srever .

Why would people want to use a 3rd party utility when there is a supported one built into Notes?!?!? It works for the client AND the server.
NSD.EXE -kill

Restart the workstation and/or delete cache.ndk and try again. You have to be out of Notes when you delete cache.ndk.
HTH.

I deleted cache.ndk and now thwe client locks up after the user signs in. I have tried deleting desktop6.ndk and jobsched.njf and bookmarks.nsf
Subject: Have you restarted the workstation? It sounds like ntaskldr.exe is locked.

At the operating system level, does the user have full rights to the Lotus folders?

My first question is how did you get the Notes client to run on iSeries?? (Sorry had to do that :P)
You could have corruption in the desktop file. You might want to try renaming desktop6.ndk to desktop5.dsk. Notes will think it is doing a R5 to D6 upgrade and will create a new desktop6.ndk file, while keeping all the workspace icons (very helpful for the user). You also want to make sure that before you delete files like bookmark and cache or rename desktop that you have the correspondng NTF files. Sometimes with file extentions turned off by default in Windoze, folks delete the NTF as well (or instead of) the NSF. You could also possibly have corruption in names.nsf, but you would need to move the file to another workstation and do a file DB new copy. Just a few things to try before you go back an reinstall Notes. Sicne you really only need to keep names.nsf, bookmarks, desktop6, jopurnal and any NSFs created locally… You can pop them back after the reinstall.
