We’re testing a deployment of IE7 and have discovered some interesting behavior.
Our goal: When a user clicks a URL in Notes, that URL is opened in a new tab in IE7.
What happens: First off, the tab behavior settings inside of IE7 are completely ignored. The rest of the behavior depends on a few variables.
Case 1 - |Internet Browser=“Microsoft Internet Explorer” / IE7 either already running or not - A new instance of IE7 is opened and the URL is opened. Subsequent URL clicks (in Notes) will open in the same instance on the same tab.
Case 2 - |Internet Browser=“Other”|[full path to iexplore.exe] - A new instance of IE7 is opened for each URL clicked.
Notes is the only program exhibiting this behavior (all others obey the rules set inside of IE7), so I’m thinking it has something to do with the way Notes handles URL calls.
Any thoughts / recommendations?
