Open URL if it is accessible

I have a Notes client application that has a frameset with a frame that references an HTML page that is only accessible is staff are logged into our Intranet. Since this Notes database will also be used when staff are not connected, is there a way to set a frame to check to see if a URL is available, and if so display that URL page? If the URL is not available, I would like to put a generic page/form that will tell them that the URL is not available, rather than a page not found error.

Yes, you can use the MSXMLHTTP object from LotusScript to send an HTTP ‘get’ request to the URL in question. Then just check the return codes, if you get 200 it’s OK, otherwise not.

Thanks for the response.

I’m not familliar with MSXMLHTTP, and can’t seem to find and example. Would you be willing to give me one?

Thanks again.

If you google for ‘LotusScript and XMLHTTP’ you will find all you need.I wrote an article in ‘The View’ about this, I can’t send you the article but the demo database is available for download at:

That should get you going.
