Is it possible to open other calendars when a user is using the Web Client? Is this even possible, and if so, can someone direct me to the documentation on how this can be done?

You have 2 options in both cases you need to have access to person cal (ACL):1) authenticate with your Internet password then replace url with user’s mail file you’re trying to access ie. your mail file url
https://web_server.domain.com/mail/your_mailfile.nsf authenticate and replace with https://web_server.domain.com/mail/user_mailfile.nsf/iNotes/Calendar/
prefered way is option 2) in your calendar click new and create group calendar, add min 1 person you can add more - save group calendar
you can view these people cals dorectly form your mail file or right click on person cal from group cal view and click open
