Subject: Security Policies migration from 6.5.6 to 8.5 or 8.5.1
Hi,WE have security password policies setup on 6.56FP2 server. If we migrate from current server release to 8.5/8.5.1 server would the current policies work fine on new releases. Also would we be able to enable the max no. of login attempts from DWA to stop multiple login attempts?
Hi,We currently have "Domino Web Access Release 6.5.6 Build 470 March 06, 2007 " on 6.56 FP2 server. DWA (old release) is currently supported on phones like Iphone or samsung touch phone but it is not supported on other phones (like Blackberry flip phone etc). It comes up as blank. Is this fixed or supported in 8.5 or 8.51 client? what is DWA release available with 8.5 or 8.51 relese?
I have installed two servers with Domino server 8.5 and both server keeps rebooting several times based on the nhttp task stack from 1am - 2am every night. I used Lotus Notes Diagnostic tool to analyze the problem and it has sent me to this tech note bellow. I need a solution for this stop this.
We have installed Lotus Notes Client 8.0.1 NL1 with MUI at Windows Vista Enterprise on our client machines. We are planning to upgrade the Lotus Notes Client to 8.5.1 using the Smart Upgrade technologie. Unfortunately we didn’t used Smart Upgrade before. Is there any Red Book or Tech Note available to learn how this technologie works, how to set it up and get some recommendations?
Subject: Standard client with Data directory on network

I would like to know if there are any issues with placing the Data directory on a network drive? I’ve heard that IBM does not support this setup but it seems to work fine with 6.5.4. I know that the addition of Eclipse to the 8 client may change things.
Are there any user specific settings saved in Eclipse’s framework directory? If so, is there any way to tell the Notes client to read the framework directory from a network drive instead of the local drive through a configuration file of some sort?
I will not be able to upgrade all of my servers to 8.5 at the same time, so I will be in a mixed 8.5 / 6.5.6 environment for some time. Please review the process for those of us who will be operating in this environment.

Are there any special considerations to take into account when upgrading an iSeries server from 8.0.2 to 8.5? I know that DAOS on the iSeries has an issue requiring a hotfix. (Technote 1398097). Are there any other issues to be aware of?
In the call it was mentioned that a higher mail template version than the client will not experience any issues. So I’m clear, I want to confirm that on a Domino 8.5FP1 server I can deploy the 8.5 mail template while the users are still on the Notes 8.0.2 Standard client. My understanding is that some newer features may not be available, but everything that worked in the 8.0.2 template design will still work. I want to do this to take advantage of the iNotes improvements.Thank you!
Subject: ‘Show Java Debug Console’ not available on Lotus notes 8.5 on Linux(Ubuntu)
‘Show Java Debug console’ option is not found on Linux platforms while it is available on windows platforms. We have checked this on Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop and could not find this option anywhere. Is this feature available in Lotus Notes 8.5 for Linux platform or not?. If not, is there any work around for this?
To ease deployments, please allow all hotfixes/fixpacks etc to be implemented directly in the installer resulting in a single install-kit with the fixes incorporated.
Subject: “Debug Lotus Script” not found under “Tools” on Lotus Notes 8.5 on Linux Platform.
We are using Redhat version 5.02 of Linux where Lotus debugger is not found under “Tools” on Lotus Notes 8.5. But i can add it to the Universal Toolbar by customizing the toolbar. When we customize the toolbar and run it it works properly on Redhat as well as Ubuntu, why is it not found under “Toos”? Is there any work around for this?
We are using a Redhat Equivalent OS where after customizing the Toolbar for adding the “Debug Lotus Script” then Notes crashes. Any workaround for this?
We are hoping to upgrade to 8.5.1 when it comes out.We are currently testing 8.5 with a small group and decided to wait for 8.5.1 to rollout to our partner base.
We use policies in 6.5 and wondered when we start migrating users to 8.5.1 can the Desktop policy we currently have be modified with all the settings that pertain to 8.5.1 and how would that effect our 6.5 users who have not been migrated over as of yet.
My company wants to be thoroughly Notes/Domino 8.5 worldwide. In the process we are consolidating Domino servers and the plan is to migrate users to a Domino 8.5 server. Along with the migration, we are upgrading users to the Notes 8.5 client. My question is as follow, is it more beneficial to upgrade the users’ client to 8.5 before migrating them to a Domino 8.5 server, or should we proceed to migrate the users first to Domino 8.5 and then upgrade their clients?
