Please!!!I would like to open databases in a new window, not tab, not just documents. Like in the basic version.

Well folks, at last the “Open In New Window” capability was re-implemented in Notes Standard Client 8.5.1 thank goodness. It’s something I use a lot myself when doing development work, and recommend to my customers using NotesTracker for RSS-like “breaking news” views that are best monitored in an external window.

This option does not appear to be available in Designer which is where I desperately need it!! Anyone know if it’s available there?

We agree that the ability to open database/views in addition to documents in a new window makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately we were not able to deliver this added functionality in Notes 8.5, but it is being reconsidered for a future release.

Diana, I’ve been pushing for this since early 8.0 betas, and it STILL hasn’t been done. This is very disappointing. It’s a vital feature, still grayed out in 8.5 beta 2 like it was was back then. You should be able to Open In New Window via the context menu of a workspace icon, a window tab, and a view name (in an outline). I absolutely need it for “breaking news” views to work in NotesTracker. It’s not really good enough to give vague indications about some future release!

Please add my name to the list of very unhappy campers.
Unless you want to prevent people from using more than one Lotus Notes application, it is imperative that we have the ability to have multiple Lotus Notes windows open simultaneously.
Removing this ability is like going from 64 bit to 32 bit…big mistake.

you can use Domino Administrator to open stuff, i use it on the left screen

Throw in my say, it is ridiculous that notes lotus this feature. People with two displays use it all the time. Doesn’t anyone at ibm use two screen with mail on one screen and lotus database on the other?

- This has been in Notes for at least twelve years … it’s not “added”, IT IS MISSING. As has been pointed out, lots of people use multiple monitors. I often have a dozen or more Notes windows open at once. Now that I’ve “upgraded” I can’t do that??? It’s like Lotus decided that since they couldn’t get the debugger to work, they just left it out of Designer.- In R5 Lotus made multiple windows so unstable in Designer that I stopped using it. Now 8.5 client has just tossed multiple windows on its ear. This is BASIC FUNCTIONALITY. I would ask what they were thinking, but they could NOT have been thinking to pull an ignorant stunt like this.
