Open a document not listed in a view

Hello,

what is the best way to open a document that is not listed in the active view?

For example, in an application, I will have to manage profile document for specific type of user. I would like to give them acces to their profile, even if they are not in the proper view. Is this possible.

Thanks

Assuming the document really is an actual “profile”, you can use either of these in a hotspot or maybe an action button.

@Command( [EditProfile] ; formname; uniqueKey )

or

Set notesUIDocument = notesUIWorkspace.EditProfile( profileName$ [, uniqueKey$] )

Alternatively, if you are not working with profile docs but you know the UNID or NoteID of the document you want to open you can do something similar to this:

dim doc as NotesDocument

set doc = db.getDocumentByUNID( … )

call workspace.editDocument( false, doc )

I realize my example leads everybody to a false impression. Let say, I need to open a document that is not listed in the active view and I need to do this from an action button. The document was created with a form I customize myself

thanks to all
