Our server recently upgraded to 7.0 - since then only one person can view a document at a time. If one person has the doc open in read mode, other users are given a “document locked” error.
Document locking has not been enabled for this database.
Any suggestions on what I need to do?

There are two kinds of document locking. The one that you click on at the db properties level is for multi-server document locking. The other kind is built-in and only overridden by a notes.ini variable (as per other response to your post).
But this is all only relevant if you are talking about two users trying to get into edit mode on same doc, not read mode.

I faced a problem like this when we upgraded from 5 to 6.But in my case it was when a person opened the document in edit mode no one else was able to edit the document. This is the default locking option provided when we installed 6.To overide this problem we updated the notes.ini of our clients with a special variable. As of now i dont remember the variable name. But the trick is, you need to say the notes client to override the locking mechanism.I dont know what would be the variable for notes 7.You can search for something in designer or adminstrator help files of notes 7.
