OK, so I can't afford new threads. Hand me down threads fit me well

As usual, a cryptic comment to start. I just felt the need to do a back and forth with NTF, haven’t done one in a few years. Pardon if some is cheek in tongue, but some of this stuff really is inside out.

It started one day with a thread called “Exchange tops Domino in market share.”

NTF: [PS2 is better product and is loosing share against XBOx.] The PS2 is not necessarily a better product than Xbox,

+++I’ll say! I can’t even get Linux to run on my model 60. And its getting darn hard to find Microchannel cards these days.

If you think MS is smart and thinks in the long run, you know nothing about the

Japanese.

+++I think MS folk are smartasses, and have had a very long run. I still don’t know much about the Japanese. Shigeko started to fill me in, but didn’t have enough time.

They aren’t selling those seats – they’re giving them away.

+++I was unable to scalp tickets for either arena. Oops, Paul ALlen is no longer there, is he?

Java continues to kick the snot out of .Net as a development platform.

+++OK, but seriously for once. .Net is cool. Fully integrated environment that BEA and IBM will never match for dev/build/deploy/test-run cycles. Server resource management that Sun still doesn’t seem to care about. What’s not to like? Heck, it even runs Domino automation code natively!

And Nintendo vs. Xbox!? Have you been paying attention? The leader in the console market is SONY, not Nintendo.

+++Dang, that explains why Bill hasn’t won this one. He’s still competing the also ran instead of the front runner. Hey, Bill, kill Sony, not Nintendo. Then maybe you’ll own this market.

Microsoft’s culture… These guys are thrilled, excited, motivated and driven. And unethical, untruthful and irresponsible. Just like a lot of the rest of the corporate world… [T]hey’re accounting practices have

positioned them to be the next Enron.

+++Sigh I miss the Enron/Worldcom high, too. I need that drive! I don’t wanna stay in bed all day!

A refrain sung every year for the last 8 years, and yet, here we all are.

+++Immature child. The death knell was first sounded 14-15 years ago, when Mitchy announced the $52,000 starting price tag. (Yes, folks! The first Notes beta was about 15 years ago!)

Here’s a cheaper idea: make a skin for the Notes mail template that looks like

that Outlook interface. Then Microsoft can invest billions in training people

on their free interface, and get no competitive advantage whatsoever!

+++Really, really cheap when you consider that NTF already did it once for you, using R5 as a starting point! (Who did that even better one more recently, Nate? Yes!!! Someone pulled out of Nathan’s shadow! Amazing but true! Not as loudly, though.)

[3. You need to drastically improve your marketing. Just watch the ad from

Microsoft (either for Office Live or Your Potential Our Passion) and you will

find it obvious.]

Well, this I can’t necessarily argue with. MS ads are masterful at showing a utopian world of business.

+++Apparently a Ferman utopian world. Sie müssen arbeiten mit unserem Microsoftware. Don’t believe me? Look at the MS parking lot ad. Five cars. A couple of VW’s (Adolph’s fave!), a BMW, a Benz, and an Audi. That’s it.

And it sure as hell doesn’t load faster. Outlook takes 15-20 seconds to shut down!

At 2:58 AM, I’m not sure it will take me even 15-20 seconds to shut down. Good night!
