Offline/Personal Folders in Notes 6.x

This is kind of an odd migration question but hopefully I’ll explain it well enough that someone can offer insight:

We’re converting from Exchange 5.5 to Domino/Notes 6.5.

Our mailbox size limit on Exchange was 10 MB. Because that was so very small we have a large subset of users who have Outlook Personal Folders stored on their local drives or a networked drive for offline storage. Some of these folks have multiple gigabyte Personal Folders.

I’ve got the Personal Folder conversion problems with nupgrade pretty well worked out. My question now is: can the configuration described above be mimicked in Notes? That is, can I set up the user’s mailfile so that the Folders are stored offline and the Inbox is online?

My best idea so far has been to replicate only the Inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc from the server to a file on the local PC which already has their folders on it. The question then is, how to integrate the converted Personal Folders (which are in their own local mailfile - a_PersonalFolders.nsf) and the replica from the server?

A lot of work there Scott. I would seriously consider a 3rd party migration tool to do this. Yes it costs money, usually $20 per seat non discounted but it reduces a lot of custom work, reduces what a user has to accomplish at their desktop and provides you with some much needed migration support

Scott - I’ve just posted something similar - you sound you have gone further than me - I understand what you are trying to.I have users with 1 -2 GB pst files. We will allow them a 100Mb mail file on the Domino server - we then want to give them a notes archive (locally) to put all the 1-2Gb history into. I can’t even manage that!!

How do I get their history into a notes nsf without spending hours with nupgrade or binary tree?
