Office Integration Notes - Symphony

All versions of Notes clients can import Lotus 1-2-3 format which means creating a Notes document from a spreadsheet row. The import function allows to add a form and to use form formulas during the import.Since March 2008 Microsoft regards the Lotus 1-2-3 format as dangerous and blocks it for MS Office. Another disadvantage of wk3 is the limit of 8192 lines.

I am waiting for a Notes version with an ods import because a spreadsheet import function is very valuable for special problems.

Subject: Notes 8.5 supports importing Symphony Spreadsheets (.ODS)

You can import IBM® Lotus® 1-2-3®,IBM® Lotus® Symphony® and Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet files into a rich-text field in a document. An imported spreadsheet becomes a table. If a spreadsheet is wider than an IBM Lotus Notes® window, use the horizontal scroll bar to see the rest of the data. The widest text can be in a Lotus Notes document is 22.75 inches. Additional text does not appear. Also, Lotus Notes imports only the first 64 columns of the spreadsheet.

If the spreadsheet file contains multiple sheets, only the first sheet is imported. Lotus Notes also doesn’t import names of named ranges.

Lotus Notes changes the font in 1-2-3 imports to Courier and Microsoft Excel imports to Times Roman. Once the file is imported, you can change the font.
