Hello
If I am in the middle of a migration and I have clients using R6.5 and clients using R8. If I enable ODS48 in an application to use design compression. users in R6.5 will be able to access the application?
Thanks

Subject: Re: ODS 48 Question
As long as the Database resides on a Domino Server, the 6.5.x clients should not have a problem opening the ODS 48 Database.
Subject: Small issue with R6.5.x Clients accessing ODS 48 DBs
Hi - We have a Domino 8.0.2 mail server with the CREATE_R8_DATABASES parameter set to 1. This mail server primarily supports R6.5.x client users and mailfiles. We are just beginning an R8 client upgrade project and these users will be upgraded in the near future. Not seeing any warning on ODS 48 from an R6.5.x client - we used the compact -C to upgrade the ODS to 48 for all databases three weeks ago.
One thing that we really liked about ODS 48 is the added information provided under a database’s User Activity - the six columns now displayed from and R8 CLIENT are Date/Time, Reads, Adds, Updates, Deletes and User.
Today, we noticed that viewing User Activity on an ODS 48 database from an R6.5.x client no longer provides any usable information from the client UI. i.e. Date/Time is garbled, the Read/Write columns are not accurate and the User is not recorded. (and the totals are useless also)
This is not a major issue for us - but we were surprised that this was not documented anywhere (that we could find) by IBM/Lotus. We also understand how to revert these databases to a prior ODS if needed.
Question: Does anyone know of any other negative impacts of using ODS 48 on databases accessed from prior versions of clients?
thanks, Brian
