Obtaining Full Message Headers

I am working with our Spam filtering company and they need me to send them a message header of an email. How do I go about getting that? I opened an email and went to View, Show, but page source is greyed out. Can someone tell me how to get this?

Thanks

View > Show > Page Source only works for interent mail. For ANY mail just highlight the document in the view then go to File > Export, choose Structured Text as the save as type then click Export then Selected Document and OK. This will export ALL of the fields into a readable text file.

  • Right-click on any message in any View/Folder, and look at Document Properties. One of the tabs shows a list of fields that comprise that message. Look at them until you find the information you need.- You may cut and paste from Doc Props if you’re just doing one message. You may access these fields from an Agent if you automation.

  • Hope this helps…

I have been dealing with McAfee to send them SMTP headers from Lotus Notes and the fastest way I found to do was to:

  1. Put all my messages that I considered Spam in my Junk mail folder

  2. Opened an instance of Notepad

  3. Clicked back into Notes and did the following key strokes:

RETURN (Opens message)

ALT-V,S,S (Gets the Show Headers)

CTRL-A, CTRL-C (Selects all the message)

ALT-TAB (switches to Notepad)

CTRL-N,CTRL-V,CTRL-S (New Document, Pastes contents, Saves)

Type file name

ALT-TAB

RETURN

…

I named my files 1.EML , 2.EML. EML seems to be a format that they can read (Outlook message). I can submit 10 samples at a time so I am able to do the key strokes pretty quickly.

Are you at view level or you have opened the message?

I just opened the email, like I would to read it. How do I get to a view level?

Hi,

At view level, it will not work. In read mode, you should be able to get the “Page SOurce” item to get the header info.

If not, try this: or here:
