Nupdate.exe eats CPU time

hi. unfortunately i am new to lotus domino. and i have several problems with out server. one of them is that i nupdate.exe eats all processor time. it spends a lot of the time on ‘mail/one_user.nsf’ file.

i thought that the problem will go away if i rebuild the full text indexes in lotus. so i switched off the server in the evening and try to do:

C:\lotus\domino\nfixup.exe

C:\lotus\domino\ncompact.exe

C:\lotus\domino\nupdall.exe -R -X

in the windows cmd. but those all commands gave “Lotus Notes: error 0x1A5” :frowning:

please help! maybe there is another way of dealing with this problem?

The update task runs because it thinks that there are views that need refreshing in that database. I would examine that database to see why the update task thinks so.

Full text indexes may be irrelevant, although I wouldn’t know at this point.

You can use log_update=1 to give you some information about what databases are being indexed and when. You can then ferret this information out of the log to get a snapshot of how long it takes your update task to index views in each database.

There are some relevant articles on Developer Network.

hi Raphael. thanks. it is a mailbox of one user. it opens ok. how would you examine it otherwise?

if i put use log_update=1 in notes.ini where would the log end up?

You would look for output in log.nsf.
