NSF To ODS Performance Gain For Large DBs?

Hi Forum,

We are running R6 servers on Win XP. We have some databases with hundreds of thousands of documents in, and their performance has become poor.

If we upgraded our servers to V8, and changed the database structure from NSF to ODS, is it likely that we will get a significant improvement in the performance of these big databases, please?

All opinions and experience VERY welcome - big thanks to everyone who responds!

Subject: It looks like you have fast growing amounts of data

and therefore I would expect that it is going to take more than newer Domino Version to make you happy for another few years. It might be architekture / Design / Archiving of data to solve your problems, or it might be bigger hardware, and probably it makes sense to balance all three of this.

Subject: NSF -->ODS

Hi Avery,

First off Domino 8 is not supported on XP. You need to be on Windows 2003 OS. Also when upgrading from V6 to V8 you have the option to change the ODS (On Disk Structure) from 43 to 48 in Domino 8 if you set the notes.ini parameter on your server and compact your Database.

pls update this if you have further questions.

Hope this helps Avery
