NSF folder pool size is full

Hi,

I keep getting an error of Insufficient memory - NSF folder pool size is full, on the Domino console.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can resolve it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

That’s not a good one, that’s for sure. I’ve been seeing that one on and off over the past two years, since 6.5.1 up through 6.5.5, typically on undersized & overused WinTel hardware. We recently migrated to 7.0.2 and have yet to see it. I hope I don’t. Numerous calls to IBM have yielded no real concrete cause other than the undersized hardware.

For me, it started occurring about 6 months after the new underpowered hardware was rolled out. It would happen every month to six weeks. (I didn’t size the hardware nor was I involved in the purchase; I inherited it.)

After a while, you’ll start seeing this more and frequently. In our case, after about 9 months of this with the occasional hard crash that wasn’t caught, it started happening every 3 weeks. Soon, every week to 10 days, it would happen and, eventually, I had a catastrophic hardware failure because of this that took 4-18 hour days to recover.

If this sounds like your situation, all I can suggest is to get load off the box ASAP, maybe reboot the box every couple of days and move to some more powerful hardware.

Are you seeing this on 7.0.2?

Thanks very much for your response, I am seeing this on 7.0.2 which I upgraded to trying to resolve the issue. It does seem to be getting more and more frequent…

I suppose throwing more RAM at the server is not going to solve it?

I haven’t seen it since we upgraded to 7.0.2, switched hardware and removed load from the box.

I think it’s worth a shot. If you think about it, in a way, removing load could be compared to adding RAM. Because, you free up RAM which gives you more room to work when you remove the load. So adding RAM would give you more room to work as well.

It sure would be nice if IBM would resolve this.

I hope it works out for you. Keep us in the loop!
