User normally runs Notes client in Basic mode. Notes crashed (cause still under investigation). Ran nsd.exe -kill but still couldn’t restart Notes Basic. Launched Notes in Standard Mode and it reported there was an open instance, finished the NSD, and closed. Notes Basic would then restart.
Huh?
Subject: Can’t help you with the “why”, but…
I highly recommend killnotes for just this sort of thing. It kills anything and everything Notes/Domino loads into your system processes.

Subject: Killnotes
We’ve used Killnotes for years but I was under the impression it wasn’t recommended for Notes 8.5. Thanks for the suggestion.
Subject: Heard that too, but it works great for me (NT)
Killnotes.exe works just fine on my 8.5.1 Notes and DDE clients. There are no lingering processes visible in task manager after it runs (unlike NSD, which doesn’t always clean up after itself).
