'Notify Me' checkbox is not selected but alarm triggers appropriately

I have a user with the following problem:

If you have your Calendar Preferences set to automatically enable alarms and you accept a meeting invitation you expect the alarm for the invite to be set via the ‘Notify Me’ box being automatically selected for the invitation. However, the ‘Notify Me’ box does not become selected as it should. Despite this issue, the alarm still triggers as it should.

This document said to upgrade to 7.0.2

I did so, but the error still occurs.

I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
