I see there are a number of past reports regarding the failure to close the client due to the Notes2w process being hung.
I never had this problem until I installed R8.0.2 and Fixpack 5 (on my XP-Pro machine with all updates). I had no problems running R8.0.1.
The error appears only in the full eclipse client and one workaround I found is to ensure that I first choose File–>Close All to close all documents before attempting to exit the client.
This is a cheesy but effective work around.
But since it was first reported in the R8 beta3, I find it discouraging that it’s resurfaced now.
I cannot and will not roll this out to my users. And after trying R8.5 a few months ago I’m afraid we will be stuck with R8.0.1 for the foreseeable future since our pc’s do not have the hardware necessary to support this Notes2w process and it’s cpu hogging characteristics that made their way into R8.5
