Hi, I am having an issue with my Notes 8.0.2 client and am hoping someone here will have an idea as to what is going on.
A little back story first. I upgraded my wireless drivers back in June and upgraded my Notes to 8.0.2 a few weeks later in July. Last week my wireless stopped working and the suggested course of action was to role back my computer to before the new driver was installed. At this point my Notes was working fine, however upon rebooting from doing the roll back, my Notes client was completely messed up. I tried reverting back to the most recent restore point, but Notes still would not work.
Basically what is happening is that when I start Notes, it acts like nothing is wrong. It prompts me for my password and the progress bar shows that Notes is loading. However, as soon as the progress bar completes, the window closes and the main workspace never opens. The Notes processes are running and when I get new mail, the icon will appear in my system tray, but I have no way of accessing my mail.
I have tried uninstalling, but this does not work as I get a provisioning error when I attempt to uninstall Notes. With the help of an uninstall program I have managed to get Notes completely removed and reinstalled, but it still has the same problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions before I wipe my workstation and start over completely?
When you attempt to reinstall Lotus Notes, the install fails with the following error:
“Error: File C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\framework.provisioning_rc not found. Provisioning process failed to launch or was terminated before status could be determined”.
Cause
This error can be caused by the use of non-ASCII characters in the folder path of the installation or the Windows Login username.
Resolving the problem
This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# LWLW79RA69.
Don’t think that is the problem though. My user name contains only ASCII characters and the install path is the default. Additionally, Notes has been uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the error persists.
You may want to recheck Robert Mendon’s post. I notice you mention you have reinstalled many time but have you edited the registry at all? I’ve been having the same issues and the only thing working for me is to edit the registry.
From somewhere else I posted…
“After performing an upgrade attempts at opening Notes 8 or 8.5 fail after the splash screen (upgrade from 7 to 8). Multiple reboots repairs re-launch fail. Uninstall / reinstall fail as well. The only thing I’ve found to work so far is to uninstall, remove the installer reg keys (GPO and Windows installer) and remove all but notes.ini and the data and workspace folders. The reinstall the application. Settings stay and notes launches fine.”
