Notes view design

Hi,

I have a view categorisation design question.

I have a crm style app that has a feature to send out “group” communications and file them under each client.

Essentially, this is view categorisation based on a multi item field, where each value in the multi item field shows as a seperate entry recording the document under each client. The multi item field contains the client id.

The problem is, any response doc to this shows under all clients, where as I just want it to display under one.

Any ideas on how to achieve this? Hopefully I’ve explained it well enough.

Thanks,

Brett

Brett,

I think this is the infamous multi multi-value field problem. Views don’t handle this the way we typically want them to. Some possibilities:

  1. Concatenate your fields into one column

  2. Generate mini reporting (view) documents when your document is saved so that each mini document has one ‘row’ of information from the document

Thank you Raphael…

I’m a little confused by those options. If you have time would appreciate a little more detailed explanation.

Many thanks,

Brett

If I read it correctly you have multiple client documents and they collectively recieve an email based on thier name being in a Multi-value field in a document. So this single document appears as many entries in a view. When you make the response to the client are you making that document a child of the Multi-value document (in which case it would appear under every client in the list) or are you creating a child document to the Client Document where it will only appear once?

Perhaps I am misreading your explaination!
