A manager has requested that I remove all mail access - incoming and outgoing - for a single Notes user.
Question: How would you recommend that I go about this?
I have thought of some possibilities, each perhaps with some pitfalls, so I’d like to hear your suggestions.

If you eliminate his company mail, he’ll just use his personal mail.2. Do you have mail-enabled workflow databases? He won’t be able to use them.
Do you REALLY want to isolate him from the company’s communication system.
Maybe it would be best to just prevent him from sending/receiving messages to/from the Internet.

The best way to do this is by creating a group, then adding the users to this group, then using your server configuration doc, add the group name to the deny email field, “there a couple of these on the configuration doc” mainly use for smtp mail.
The other solution, is to edit the user doc, and change the mail system field to None. The user will still have a users account in your domain but Not email will be send to him. Also leave the mail file and mail server filed blank.

Yes, you can do this it just depends on how much you want to restrict mail.
To just remove the ability to send and receive Internet mail you need to make 2 adjustments in the Configuration Doc for your Server.
First change, go to Router/SMTP - Restrictions and Controls - SMTP Inbound Controls and then to the “Deny messages intended for the following internet addresses:” Field. Put their e-mail address in that field and they will not get Internet e-mail.
Second change is just 1 Tab over, the SMTP Outbound Controls tab and go to the “Deny messages from the following Notes addresses to be sent to the Internet:” Field and enter their e-mail address.
