I’ve had a neverending streak of problems with Notes under Wine on Linux and I have seen here on the forum that it has never been really solved.
I have just tried the latest wine build from source 20050628 and it works perfect!
All of the pitfalls I had so far seem to be solved, including the calendar, tasks, mail folders (would hang wine before) and many others.
I am still testing, but so far it works in 100% tasks I need in my organisation.
So - if you have problems - a tested config:
-
Wine 20050628 from www.winehq.org
-
Kernel 2.6.x (2.6.7 in my case)
-
Wine compiled from sources (it matters sometimes)
-
Notes 6.5.4 copied from an XP installation (the whole ‘lotus’ directory tree from ‘Program Files’)
-
MFC42.DLL and MSVCP60.DLL copied to windows/system under wine (NOTHING MORE)
-
Windows emulation set to “XP” in Wine, but I don’t think it matters much.
Voila!
None of the previous Wine releases worked that well. A big thank you to Wine developers here.
