Notes to Exchange Mail Compatibility

Hello Notes Techs.The system I support is Notes 8.5 mail.

The users send Notes Meeting Notices to another vendor who uses Outlook/Exchange 2007.

When my Notes user sends a recurring meeting notice to this vendor, it is sent and received to the vendor successfully.

UNTIL the vendor opens the notice then they do not get an “accept” button, it comes in as an email with an error message “not supported calendar message.ics”

The vendor insists it something we can modify on the Notes side.

We have tried changing Notes mail policy.

We have tried modifying the user’s .INI file with the $CSCompatibilityMode=2 to see if the check box to appear “some invities use other mail programs.”

ANY any other ideas?

Keep in mind that compatibility mode limits affect not only Outlook/Exchange invitees, but also any Notes invitees for repeating meetings. Repeating meeting actions that compatibility mode limits include:

•Rescheduling, updating, or canceling more than one instance of a meeting at a time. While Outlook/Exchange supports repeating meeting rescheduling generally, it does not support rescheduling multiple instances, which is how Notes sends out a reschedule of all instances. When in compatibility mode, users must select the Just this instance option in the Change repeating entry dialog box, leaving the Some invitees use other mail programs enabled.

•Custom repeating meetings. Custom repeating meetings are not allowed in compatibility mode. If custom repeat settings are specified before compatibility mode is enabled, and a user then selects the Some invitees use other mail programs option, the user sees the message “You cannot use this option when a custom repeating meeting is specified.” The user has the option of canceling the current repeating meeting settings in order to specify new non-custom repeat settings, or saving no changes. In either case, the custom settings are ignored.

•Weekend rules. Only the default Don’t Move weekend rule is allowed on repeating meetings. If weekend rules are specified before compatibility mode is enabled, and a user then selects the Some invitees use other mail programs option, the user sees the message “You cannot use this option when weekend rules for a repeating meeting are specified.” The user has the option of canceling the current repeating meeting settings in order to specify new repeat settings with no weekend rules, or saving no changes. In either case, the weekend rules settings are ignored.

Is this a new meeting or reschedule of a recurring meeting? If second exchange does not support it and I would suggest the users cancel the orginal meeting for this occurance and create a new meeting

The user’s are not on 8.5 template.

I will try an upgrade on the mail file to 8.5.

The user states the most issues occurr on a “rescheduled recurring meeting notice”
