Notes SQL 3.02j - incompatible with Excel 2003?

I’ve just installed the lasted SQL Driver 3.02j, i can connect to a datasource fine and retrieve and manipulate data okay… but when i try to save the spreadsheet Excel just hangs!

This only appears to effect Excel 2003 earlier versions are fine.

I found an old version of the SQL driver 2.06, this doesn’t work with R6 but i added a 5.0 key to the registy and got it to run. This version of the driver does save the spreadsheet in 2003 however ists really flaky to use… any more than say 4 columns in the query and it crashes…

anyone else have this problem? or work around? i’m guessing IBM aren’t aware of this which is supprising…

Thanks

Pete

Subject: Notes SQL 3.02j - incompatible with Excel 2003?

I’ve had a similar problem using Windows XP, Excel 2003, and Lotus Notes SQL driver 8.0. I can access the Notes data in a SQL query and return it to Excel, but when trying to save the Excel worksheet, Excel would hang.

I’ve found what maybe a workaround:

  1. Right before importing the data to MS Excel, where Excel gives you a window titled “Import Data”, click “Properties…”.

  2. This will bring up a window called “External Data Range Properties”. Under Query Definition, select “Save Password”.

With this setting, I’m able to save the Excel file and can use the Refresh Data option in Excel using either the “Enable background refresh” or “Refresh data on file open”
